Who loves you pretty baby

My heart belongs to fashion and all the cold Diet Cokes around the tents this Valentine’s Day. It’s just Sunday and we’ve hit too many shows to count but we saw an amazing collection from DVF (Diane von Furstenberg) and Herve Leger and some not so amazing collections to which we will name no names.

And it seems that the King of the Tents, Max Azria’s collection for Hervé Léger was inspired by Avatar and a touch of S&M. I’m starting to see a reoccurring theme already this week. The clothes were quite body conscious with twist; cue Avatar. Our favorite was the leather and fuchsia top with skirt and some killer pants both which are pictured above.

P.S. It’s still cold, temperature at posting: 30° and it’s suppose to snow again tomorrow. Great.

Trying for a cool tech headline but my brain is in need of food

Bryant Park really embraced the World Wide Web this time around. American Express has a live Twitter feed streaming at the entrance to the shows, which displays any Tweet with #AmexMBFW.

Here was our Tweet: Live in the AOL media Lounge updating before DVF, we hear the pint-sized Tavi is at Herve Leger #nyfw #AmexMBFW.

The Tweets aren’t the only thing new and improved: after many seasons of cramming journalists in a cramped space near the port-o-potties, the press lounge sponsored by AOL is now easily accessible and blogger-friendly and it is in this room where this blog update was written.

Now for food. Who wants Aureole?

It seems that Project Runway’s fiercest protégée is all grown up. The collection as you can see was mature and dynamic playing to the “Ladies who lunch” crowd with gorgeous cocktail dresses and probably all the tulle in New York for that amazing gown.

Naomi’s still got it while Agy takes a tumble 2/13/10 | 12:30 p.m.

The eight models, most of whom were crying, posed at the end of the catwalk in McQueen’s last collection

Ms. Campbell aligned the stars last night, literally. Naomi and her celebrity friends which included Estelle, Chris Brown, Kelly Osbourne, supermodel Helena Christensen, designers Donna Karan and Diane von Furstenberg, and heiress Daphne Guinness all strutted the runway for Fashion for Relief.

While it is the norm for runway shows to be invite-only, tickets were made available to American Express cardholders for $150. The 950 seats sold out within four days and the clothing modeled during the almost hour long show will be sold on Net-a-porter.com starting March 15.

Other famous names came out in support of Fashion for Relief were America’s Next Top Model judge, Jay Manual and Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, wife of mogul Harvey Weinstien while Sarah, the Duchess of York MC’d the nights festivities.

Though she rarely walks the runway these days, the 39-year-old Campbell walked three times, and flawlessly I might add with the grace and power as she once did. That was not the case for one of the runway’s semi-veteran face, Agyness Deyn who not only fell once, but twice in the four inch platform Burberry sandals, finally talking them off and walking barefoot the rest of the way.

The evening took a solemn tone towards the end when the lights dimmed and Patti Smith’s “Because The Night” began to play as Alexander McQueen flashed onto the walls. Naomi joined the seven other visibly distressed supermodels and Daphne Guinness, who was McQueen’s muse and who had personally designed the silver-sequined cat suit for her birthday, marched down in McQueen’s last collection, “Plato’s Atlantis” shown last October in Paris.

Fashion for Relief will be held again at London Fashion Week, on Feb. 18.

Baby, it’s cold outside… 02/12/10 | 8:50 p.m.

If your reading this and you weren’t able to get a golden ticket to the tents or like all of the East Coast paralyzed by the weather, don’t fret! Following on the heels on the late Alexander McQueen a handful of designers will be live streaming their shows online including Alexander Wang. He fully believes that fashion is for the masses so he is letting the whole of Times Square see his show. The coverage will be on a few second delay and will be displayed on the American Eagle boards. Log in early lest we forget McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2010 live stream crashed the server because of the high volume. (All showings are in EST.)
